Akhilesh Yadav Faces Waris Pathan’s Attack Over Azam Khan Meeting Ahead of UP Polls
Waris Pathan targets Akhilesh Yadav over his meeting with Azam Khan ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, questions the SP's Muslim outreach and demands strict Mumbai Police action over the Tiger Shroff firing incident.
Questioning the timing of Akhilesh Yadav’s meeting with Azam Khan, who is currently in jail, Pathan said AIMIM had already been speaking in support of the Samajwadi Party leader’s close associate, but Akhilesh Yadav had remembered him only now. He questioned where the SP chief had been until now and why it had taken him so long to meet Azam Khan in jail.
Pathan alleged that Akhilesh Yadav had visited Azam Khan with an eye on Muslim votes ahead of the upcoming elections. He said the Muslim community was politically aware and should not be underestimated.
Waris Pathan also criticised the Samajwadi Party over its representation of Muslim community concerns, alleging that the party does not adequately raise their issues despite having several MLAs and MPs.
He said AIMIM was working to empower the Muslim community in Uttar Pradesh and secure greater political representation for it. According to Pathan, his party wants to send representatives to the state Assembly who will fight for justice and people's rights.
Discussing AIMIM’s preparations for the Uttar Pradesh elections, Pathan claimed that the party’s public meetings were attracting large crowds and that party president Asaduddin Owaisi was receiving public support. He expressed confidence that AIMIM would perform well in the elections.
Separately, Pathan expressed concern over the firing incident involving Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff and called on Mumbai Police to take strict action. Referring to the police force’s capabilities, he said such activities could be curbed if the police acted firmly.
Recalling the 1980s and 1990s, Pathan said similar incidents had occurred during those decades, but the police had taken action and adopted strict measures against criminals. He expressed concern that incidents of firing in broad daylight were once again creating an atmosphere of fear in Mumbai.
Pathan’s remarks have brought two issues into focus: the political contest over Muslim representation ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections and concerns over public safety following the firing incident involving Tiger Shroff.
